Neil Fernando's yard has been the undisputed market leader in South Asia since 1968, with over 40,000 boats delivered. Besides boats for Menken Maritiem, Neil Fernando builds sophisticated lifeboats for the oil industry, sailing yachts for the UK market and, of course, local fishing vessels.

Ever since our establishment in 1996, we have been building all our boats together with Neil Fernando & Co. in Negombo. Bernard Menken has been on the Board of Directors since 2003 and has been a shareholder in this largest GRP boatyard in Sri Lanka since 2006.

One of the advantages of building in Sri Lanka is the constant high temperature. This makes even and complete hardening of polyester very easy to guarantee. Menken Maritiem is therefore the only yard in its segment able to deliver its boats with a Lloyds hull certificate.

The special character of Menken Maritiem's boats is underlined by the rich wood plan. Today, we process with the durable Flexiteek. We do this entirely according to the layout and design of the former Burma Teak. Carpenters' passion and experience radiate from the woodwork.

The yard has been ISO 9001:2000 certified since 2006. The ships are built according to IMO Solas guidelines and, if desired, can also be built under full Lloyds quality mark with certificate. There is no greater guarantee of good quality.
